Originally from Sinaloa, Blanca has lived in Puerto Peñasco since she was a young girl. She was a single mother to Denitza when she met Manuel, and they have been together for the past 13 years. Manuel is from Ensenada, Baja, but came to Peñasco as a teenager. He has always worked as a fisherman, work that is seasonal and dependent on the season. He can earn anywhere from $20 a week to $100 a week, so it is difficult to have financial stability. Blanca and Manuel had three more children together, Jose, Airam and Noel. All four children attend school. They are a healthy family and Blanca has enjoyed learning about gardening and being involved in the sewing classes. The family is currently living in an abandoned Infonavit house. Though it is a roof over their head, the conditions are poor, and they could be told to leave at any time. They have a land lot in Brisas del Mar, but have been unable to afford to build a home on their own. A house from 1MISSION would give this family a safe and decent home where they would have the stability of home ownership and have the opportunity of working towards a secure future. UPDATE: The family is now living in their new house.
