ABOUT THE FAMILY
Though she was born in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mirna’s family moved to Puerto Peñasco when she was a baby, and she has lived there ever since. Mirna and Luis have been together for 28 years and have three daughters. The eldest two, Sendy and Lilian are married and living on their own. Their youngest daughter, Amayrani still lives with them. She works for a local cell phone company and helps support the family. Luis Alfonso is from Hermosillo but has also lived in Peñasco since he was very young. He has a regular job driving a dump truck, and his wages cover the family’s basic expenses. The family has always lived with Luis’s mother, but when she passed away the brothers sold the house, dividing the profits. Without a home of their own, Mirna’s sister left them an Infonavit home, but this is just a short term option as they have no right to the property. The family has been able to purchase a land lot with the profits from the sale of the mother’s house, but are without the means to build a home on their own. A house from 1MISSION would provide stability which would make a huge impact on their lives. The security and financial solvency would allow them to work towards a secure future.
