Originally from Tlamacasapa, Guerrero in southern Mexico, Laurencia and Mauricio have lived in Puerto Peñasco for the past seven years. They have been together for 10 years, but though they would like to have a family, they have been unable to have children. Laurencia has some medical problems and has gone through a number of medical treatments and even surgeries, but has been unable to conceive. Mauricio works as a beach vendor, selling the bracelets and hats that they make and decorate together at home. Their income is unpredictable, dependent on the tourist season and even the weather. They have been able to purchase a land lot with their savings, but Laurencia’s medical treatments have resulted in additional financial strain, and they have not been able to afford to build anything on their own. A house from 1MISSION would give this hard working couple security and the stability of home ownership, allowing them to focus their limited resources on their future and hopefully being able to start a family.
