Bikes Fight Poverty: 2DAY is 1MISSION’s signature back-to-back century ride. Over 100 cyclists will ride from Goodyear, Arizona to 1MISSION’s basecamp in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. All for one inspiring purpose: giving families in poverty access to safe, secure housing.
Push yourself by joining our group cycling event and ride 100 miles one day – then wake up and do 100 more! There’s nothing quite like crossing the finish line at our basecamp in Mexico and meeting the families that we partner with.REGISTER NOW
What to Expect
Over the course of two long but rewarding days, you’ll join 120 other cyclists riding from Goodyear, Arizona all the way to 1MISSION’s basecamp in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. It’s two days, two countries and 200 miles.
On day one, you’ll ride through beautiful farmland and across the historic Gillespie Dam Bridge. After a lunch stop in Gila Bend, you’ll continue on to the old mining town of Ajo, where you’ll spend the night.
Day two will take you through the beautiful Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, across the border into Mexico. Crossing the finish line at 1MISSION’s basecamp just outside of Puerto Peñasco is an experience you’ll never forget.
1MISSION will provide aid stations along the route, SAG (support and gear) vehicles for each group, and medical staff will also be on hand throughout the entire event.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided both days as well as breakfast on Monday morning at basecamp in Mexico. Each aid station along the route will have nutrient-rich snacks and hydrating drinks. We will provide a housing option for the first night in Ajo as well as bunkhouse, tent, or RV options at our basecamp after the second day. A celebratory dinner is included upon arrival at basecamp, plus a hearty breakfast on Monday morning before heading home.
Transportation back to Phoenix for you and your bike will also be available on Monday morning, as needed.
Last but not least, you’ll receive a stylish 2022 Bikes Fight Poverty jersey. For the sake of anyone who may happen to ride behind you, please wear a different jersey for the second day!

Fees and Fundraising
We take pride in ensuring that Bikes Fight Poverty events are safe, fun, and well-supported. But 1MISSION isn’t an events company. We’re a community development organization giving people in poverty the opportunity to earn a house by serving their community.
So when you register to ride in a Bikes Fight Poverty event, you’re committing to fundraise for families in need. That’s what makes this event so meaningful for everyone involved!
The cost to participate is $250 and is due at the time of registration.
You will also be responsible for a $500 fundraising minimum, with these donations from your family and friends going to support 1MISSION’s projects and programs in the field. Does the idea of fundraising sound scary? Don’t worry, we’re pros at this. Our fundraising coach will provide you helpful tips and tools to help you meet and exceed your fundraising goal before the event.

While we are all optimistic that COVID-19 will be mostly contained by the time of the ride, we don’t need to remind you that we’re living in uncertain times. Unless circumstances change, we are planning on Bikes Fight Poverty happening without restrictions. If forced to alter our plans, 1MISSION staff will communicate those changes quickly and clearly to all registered riders and volunteers.
